We had a lively and successful launch event. Jesse Norman MP set the tone with a superb address on the value of analysis in economic policy making.
This ranged from the misattribution of the Townshend Duties of 1767 to Adam Smith (including the infamous Tea tax on colonial America) to whether macroeconomics is purely for journals or to address the real world we inhabit.
Next up, Paul Sanderson from the ESRC explained the need for new approaches to macroeconomics as a complement to their continued support for ‘mainstream’ macroeconomics.
Our management team of Angus Armstrong, Laura Bear, Doyne Farmer, Roger Farmer and David Tuckett explained what in their view success would look like at the end of four years.
