Economic Security and Industrial Strategy

Strategic competition and economic security pose challenges for economic policymakers focused on optimising trade and commercial relationships and traditional macroeconomics. Countries are examining the role of industrial strategy, subsidies, FDI screening and export bans to ensure the production and supply of critical materials, semi-conductors and energy and limit the trade of dual-use technologies. This event will discuss the merits of such approaches in the context of a UK Industrial Strategy.
